National tournamentThe Central Missouri Homeschool Saints returned home this Sunday from the National Christian Basketball Tournament that took place in Oklahoma City, OK this last week. Over 300 teams traveled to OK to play basketball and the Saints were very excited to be among them. They were able to take 7 girls to compete in the 18 and Under division and 2 boys who were able to compete in the Team USA division for both 14 and Under and 18 and Under. They represented central Missouri VERY well! The girls won their first game but lost their second putting them in the 5A division. After one more loss they won both of their last games bringing home 5th place. The Saints are now recognized as the 13th ranked team in the nation. Congratulations girls! Special honors also went to some of the team members. Caleb McGennis took home All-Tournament and MVP honors for the 14 and Under division and Rowan Walquist also took home All-Tournament for the 18 and Under division. Kimberly Schweikert (Columbia) was received the Christian Character Award for the 18 and Under division. Macy Walquist was named one of the 2007-2008 NCHBC All Americans, an honor only given to 30 homeschool girls in the nation. Because of this she was able to play in the Show-Case games in front of a crowd of 8,000 spectators including quite a few college scouts. She also won All-Tournament and MVP honors for the 18 and Under division. We are very proud of what our team has accomplished this year! Thank you for all your support of homeschool basketball. Posted: 2008-03-05Game Day ActivitesI am needing to know the responsibilities that you would prefer at our home games. I am making a schedule for all of the parents to do the different jobs which include the following:
It would be a great help to me if you could email me or call me to let me know what job you prefer. I will try to schedule you for the jobs you pick. A few changes to note, I am trying to make up a schedule ahead of time so I don\'t have to call everyone last minute like I did last year. So if for some reason you can\'t work when I have you scheduled it will be your responsibility to find someone for your job that is not already scheduled for a job of there own, and then let me know who you have to fill in for you. Right now there are several TBA games, and some not yet scheduled so I will continually be working on those home game schedules. As we all know being a home school team requires us to be very hands on, and involved to make our team a strong and successful TEAM. So I want to thank everyone ahead of time for their help and cooperation! THANK YOU!!!
